Assalam my Muslim peeps, If you’re in Queenstown, New Zealand, and lucky enough to feel the beginning of summer air in this country, it would be nice to have some icy dessert like my favorite as always! Gelato! Since I had a hard time finding halal food in New Zealand and found out that most of the halal food has been contaminated with non-halal food (the halal meat may be cooked with the same oil that they use to cook pork, halal meat been placed beside pork or using the same utensils and etc), I become skeptical on how the food preparation law in this country.

I’m not only having a hard time finding proper halal food with their logo on it, even not for a vegan and vegetarian logo or labels like how the United Kingdom and most of the European countries which have on most of their products with ‘V’ green alphabet or ‘suitable for vegetarian’ indicated at the back of the packages. The only thing you can do is to Google and remember the E number of preservatives or addictive that they use, like E-304, E-322, E-422, E-431, E-432 and so many more should be avoided or questionable. I’ll give you the website link which is reliable on preservative and addictive contains in my next update.

So back in exciting and delicious Gelato shop where I found in Queenstown, the famous Mrs Ferg! I love everything about Mrs Ferg, from the very helpful staff to all of their vegan & vegetarian gelatos and most of the gelato are free of alcohol too! I’ve asked the staff for vegetarian gelato and the staff told me that all are suitable for vegetarians and vegans are welcome to try their delicious sorbet too! I also asked to confirmed which flavor that has alcohol, and it was very easy to know as the staff told me that the one that has alcohol already mentioned on their flavors such as Rum & Raisins and Baileys is the one that based on alcohol beverage name.

I’ve tried their sorbet of raspberry & chocolate, for gelato, I’ve tried Roasted Hazelnut & Caramel, Apple pie, Lemon meringue, Vanilla, Cookies & Cream, Pistachio and Espresso flavors. Yes! I’ve tried all of these and none of them disappoint me! Try it yourself and have your ice cream by seating on the grass of Earnslaw Park with the Lake Wakatipu overview and nice warm sun heat. Enjoy! Love <3.

The helpful staff.
